Why a program rather than a call-out
A reactive arrangement means you find out you have a problem when a customer, a tenant or an inspector finds it first. A scheduled program moves the discovery earlier and cheaper, and — for food premises and managed buildings — it produces the paperwork that is the actual requirement. The treatment is rarely the hard part. Consistent records, a technician who knows the site, and documentation you can lay hands on during an inspection are what a program buys.

What sets the frequency
There is no legislated interval, and any supplier quoting one before seeing the site is guessing. What actually drives it is what the premises handles, how much of it is food or waste, what surrounds the building, the construction itself, and the site's own history. A dry office tenancy and a kitchen backing onto a shared bin room are different problems. We agree a frequency for the premises and write it into the program — and an agreed schedule that is adhered to is worth considerably more than an ambitious one that is not.

Treatment on the agreed cycle, scheduled around trading or occupancy where that matters. Products approved for the premises type — food-safe where food is handled.

A written report recording activity found, what was treated and what was used, filed so it can be produced on the day it is asked for rather than reconstructed afterwards.

Review and adjust
Frequency is not fixed forever. Seasonal pressure, a change of tenant or a building alteration all change the picture, and the program should change with it.
What a program does not do
It does not transfer your obligations to us. For a food business the legal duty to keep the premises free of pests and to hold a documented program sits with the business, and no contractor can assume it on your behalf — anyone offering to "keep you compliant" is offering something they cannot deliver. What we can do is carry out the work properly, document it in the form an inspector expects, and tell you where the premises itself is the problem. We are also licensed pest technicians rather than licensed building inspectors, so combined building-and-pest reports are outside what we provide.
