What a termite barrier actually is
Subterranean termites live in the soil and travel up into a building through the ground beneath and around it. A chemical soil barrier treats that soil, so the termites cannot reach your home without moving through treated ground. It is a protective measure rather than a one-off spray — the point is to change the route into the building, permanently enough that the colony finds nothing worth following.

When a barrier is the right choice
A barrier suits a property where we can access and treat the soil around the structure, and where you want continuous protection rather than a monitored system you check in on. It is often the choice after an active infestation has been eliminated — the treatment deals with the colony that got in, the barrier deals with the next one. It also suits owners who would rather not have monitoring stations around the property. Where the construction, slab or landscaping makes a full barrier impractical, a baiting system is usually the better answer, and we will say so.

We inspect first
We assess the interior, exterior, subfloor, roof void and surrounding grounds with specialised detection tools, and report on any current activity, previous damage and the risk areas. A barrier cannot be priced or designed properly without this — the construction and the soil dictate the work.

We eliminate any active colony
If the inspection finds live termites, they are dealt with first, with targeted dusting, foaming or baiting applied directly to the workings so the treatment is carried back into the colony. A barrier installed over an untreated active infestation protects nothing.

We treat the soil
The treated zone is established around the structure, worked to the construction in front of us — slab, subfloor, piers, garden beds, paths and service penetrations all change how the work is done. We explain what is involved at your property before anything starts.

We follow up
Termite protection is not a set-and-forget product. We recommend ongoing inspections so that any breach or new activity is caught early, and we set out the schedule that suits your property as part of the quote.
